Christmas DIY

Still racking your brain for gift ideas to give friends, family or co-workers? It’s only two days shy from the big day and we know the panic and frenzy that goes with trying to find the perfect one. But why not make your own? We’re throwing a five nifty last-minute ideas and we hope that it will ease some of the holiday headaches.
1.    Take a picture. Using your trusty camera, take snapshots of your favorite person (it could be you, the recipient or someone else entirely), and print it on coasters, jewelry charms, mugs, magnets, shirts…you get the idea.
2.    Stress Busters: We know how the holiday season can put a toll on anybody. We suggest giving away homemade bath soaps, bath fizzies, or even herbal pillows that are sure to melt those stresses away.  (check out some recipes from marthastewart.com)

3.    Turn the Volume Up. We believe that music is meant to be shared so why not do some sharing of your own? Burn your favorite tunes on a CD and go creative on your presentation, and voila! You can’t be more personal than that.

4.    Reuse and recycle. No, we don’t mean recycling last year’s gift…instead, use your old, unused tea cups as containers for    some handmade candles. (check out some recipes from marthastewart.com)

5.   Go Green. Check out your local nursery, and discover an array of herbs, potted plants and bulbs that are wonderful to be given as gifts. Simply transfer them in more presentable pots and containers and you’re good to go!

Make bookends as the year ends

We found this project– painting a brick to make a bookend– to be very desirable as all of us in Drunk on Design love good books (and on some rare occasions, would have use for a nice brick to throw at the…wall :P ) .
We have all heard about the economic crunch and we thought of looking for DIY gift ideas shared in the worldwide web. This simple craft is a reminder of how with a little creativity and the ability to recognize a material’s potential for a use other than its original purpose, designers can turn plain into pretty (or in this case, cute).

For a lot of people, a good cup of coffee is a part of everyday routine. And to go without it is almost unthinkable. Cafés and restaurants may be popular haunts for coffee addicts to go to for that cuppa of steaming, hot macchiato or latte, but outside of these places, without the expertise of a barista, what then?

Well, buying a coffee machine is always a good option but hey, they can also be intimidating for the uninitiated. Why not get your own barista?

In a media launch last November 28, OWG Coffee Co. introduced Soltazza mini barista. This sleek, little machine is the answer to every one who’s ever wanted to make their own coffee but don’t know how. A push of a button and you get the perfect espresso, latte, cappuccino (yes, it can steam milk) and even express tea!

The Italian-designed mini espresso machine is also OWG Coffee Co.’s solution to the pressing issue of shortage of professional baristas in the country which is undeniably hitting the coffee industry hard.
