Landscape Architecture in the Middle East

Are you familiar with the practice of landscape architecture in the Philippines? Did you know that there is actually a professional association? Check out www.pala.org.ph for more information.

Anyway, a lot of PALA professionals are practicing in other countries like those in the Middle East. Check out this magazine .

Blurb Yourself

Ever wondered how creative you really are? This is your chance to find out. We just discovered this wonderful website where you can be your author, layout artist, publisher, all rolled into one. Simply put, you have total creative control over anything you want to produce, as long as it’s in book format, that is.

It’s www.blurb.com. Yes, the ubiquitous term used to describe any kind of copyrighted work is now a verb. The website is the perfect venue for writers, photographers, artists to publish themselves and their works without the hassles and trappings of going through the usual avenue. It’s your work, your effort at your own pace.

Blurb.com is one of the fastest growing “publish yourself” websites proliferating in cyberspace these days. With ready templates and formats, it’s a no-fuss approach to achieving literary acclaim.

Sandbox

Sandbox[1]

There are plenty of social networking sites these days. Frankly, we cannot keep up. Our Twitter is not even that active (this is an understatement). But we do think that Sandbox is worth checking out.

Sandbox is a locally developed, online platform that allows anyone to connect with friends and share blog posts, photos and videos. It is also an online content store where you can buy music and games with lots of giveaways, raffles and prizes. There is nothing not to like!

We will see you there!

The American Institute of Architects (Hong Kong Chapter) will be having a dinner with a lecture from landscape architect, Martha Schwartz tonight, 8 June, 2009 at the Pacific Place Conference Center, Queensway, Hong Kong. Reception starts at 6:30 pm.

Martha Schwartz will be talking about design and sustainability, along with some of her recent works. Her husband, Peter Walker, designed a park along Ayala Avenue. Can you tell us which one?

Not Horsing Around

So we have all been very, very busy. Working like horses, really. But this craft we found through www.designspongeonline.com is a great way to just give the thinking hat a break. And it involves making horses!
