Some of the world’s favorite designers lent their creative hands to Christmas trees recently, all in the name of charity. Around 44 designer Christmas trees were auctioned off at the Les Sapins de Noel des Createurs charity auction in Paris.

The chic trees included a golden beauty crafted with hundreds of LV emblems by none other than Louis Vuitton, Stella McCartney’s eco-friendly tree created from cardboard tiers, and Jerome Dreyfuss’ unique umbrella and plastic bag design. The biggest seller of the night was a tree by British Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid. Zahid, who designed the recent Chanel Pavilion in Central Park,  sold her unusual tree, made of a white column of circling shapes for €46, 000.

The event raised a total of €101, 000 for the Sol En Si organization, a group which assists children and families living with AIDS. Some of the proceeds will be used to create a residence in Togo for AIDS orphans. The good and welcomed surprise is that the funds raised were three times the expected amount so organizers can do much more than that.

Hurray for designer trees!
